FOREWORD
by DR. A. J. WILLIS
Lecturer in Botany, University of Bristol
A great variety of house-plants, grown for the beauty both of their flowers and of their foliage, is now available from nurserymen. All too often the success of these plants in rooms is unnecessarily short-lived, largely because the treatment they receive is not suitable. However, with appropriate culture and care and a knowledge of their various requirements, the plants may be readily grown successfully indoors.
In this book many popular, as well as some lesser-known, house-plants of a wide range of form and with different cultural needs are described. Full details of the requirements and appropriate treatment of these plants are given by the author who has an extensive first-hand knowledge of them and who has spent a lifetime tending and propagating them. I can commend this informative volume to all who wish to enjoy the lasting beauty of room-plants and to achieve and maintain a colourful display
